The bishop

Bishop
Hilary Nanman Dachelem, C.M.F.

A see whose chair stands empty is recorded as vacant rather than filled with a guess. On what a bishop is, see the bishop.

The cathedral

Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist stands in Bauchi, the church that holds the cathedra from which this see takes its name.

On what a cathedral is, see the cathedral; every see church on earth is gathered at the cathedrals.

History

In Northern Nigeria, the Latin Church maintains the Diocese of Bauchi (Latin: Bauchian(us)), a suffragan see within the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Jos that nonetheless depends on the missionary Roman Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. The Cathedral of St. John Evangelist stands in the episcopal see of Bauchi, in Bauchi State.

How to reach it

Diocesan offices
Bishop’s House, St. John’s the Evangelist Cathedral, Yandoka Road, P.O. Box 17, Bauchi, Nigeria

This see keeps no website of its own, so the address of its diocesan offices is published here: withholding it would protect nothing and leave a reader with nowhere to go. Where a see publishes its own site, the register sends you there instead.
