History
The whole of the dependency of Bermuda makes up the Diocese of Hamilton in Bermuda (Latin: Dioecesis Hamiltonensis in Bermuda), a Latin Church see in North America, suffragan to the Archdiocese of Nassau and a member of the Antilles Episcopal Conference. Because Bermuda had historically belonged to British North America, the jurisdiction was erected in 1953 out of the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth in Nova Scotia, Canada, as the Prefecture Apostolic of Bermuda Islands; it became an apostolic vicariate in January 1956 and the Diocese of Hamilton in Bermuda in June 1967.
