History
The whole province of Prince Edward Island falls within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charlottetown (Latin: Dioecesis Carolinapolitana), a suffragan diocese of the Catholic Church in Canada. Carved from the Archdiocese of Quebec on August 11, 1829, it passed to the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth on May 4, 1852, and ranks as the second-oldest English-speaking diocese in Canada. The Cathedral-Basilica of Saint Dunstan in downtown Charlottetown serves as its seat.
