A see whose chair stands empty is recorded as vacant rather than filled with a guess. On what a bishop is, see the bishop.

The cathedral

Cattedrale della Santissima Trinità e Beata Vergine Maria Madre della Chiesa stands in Cerreto Sannita, the church that holds the cathedra from which this see takes its name.

Its co-cathedral is Concattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta.

History

Since 1986, when the Diocese of Sant'Agata de' Goti was suppressed and its territory and Catholic population joined to the Diocese of Telese-Cerreto Sannita, the Latin Diocese of Cerreto Sannita-Telese-Sant'Agata de' Goti (Latin: Dioecesis Cerretana-Thelesina-Sanctae Agathae Gothorum) has served the Catholic Church in Campania, Italy, as a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Benevento. Its cathedral in Cerreto Sannita, the Cattedrale di SS. Trinità e Beata Vergine Maria Madre della Chiesa, is dedicated to the Holy Trinity and, by a late-20th century addition, to Mary Mother of the Church.
