History

Established on 18 October 1925 as the Diócesis de Santa Cruz de Rancagua, through the papal bull Apostolici muneris ratio of Pope Pius XII, this Chilean see (Latin: Dioecesis Rancaguensis) serves as a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Santiago de Chile. Its current bishop is Guillermo Patricio Vera Soto, appointed by Pope Francis on 8 June 2021.
