History
Santa Clara, a Latin Church diocese in Cuba and a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Camagüey, began as part of the Diocese of Cienfuegos, erected in 1903. That parent diocese took the name Cienfuegos-Santa Clara in 1971, and in 1995 it was divided, yielding the separate Dioceses of Cienfuegos and Santa Clara.
