History
The sole Latin diocese in the country of Djibouti, on the Horn of Africa, bears the Latin name Gibuten(sis). It is exempt, answering directly to the Holy See through its missionary Roman Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. Our Lady of the Good Shepherd Cathedral (French: Marian Cathédrale de Notre-Dame du Bon-Pasteur) stands in the national capital, Djibouti City.
