Latin rite diocese in the eastern Dominican Republic, erected on 1 April 1959 as a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo. Its seat is the Basilica Catedral Nuestra Senora de la Altagracia in Higuey, a national shrine declared a minor basilica in 1970. Bishop Jesus Castro Marte has led the diocese since 2020.
