The bishop

Vicar Apostolic
Jose Adalberto Jimenez Mendoza, O.F.M. Cap.

A see whose chair stands empty is recorded as vacant rather than filled with a guess. On what a bishop is, see the bishop.

The cathedral

Catedral Nuestra Senora del Carmen, Puerto Francisco de Orellana stands in Aguarico, the church that holds the cathedra from which this see takes its name.

On what a cathedral is, see the cathedral; every see church on earth is gathered at the cathedrals.

History

In the Aguarico Canton of Ecuador's Amazon rainforest lies the Apostolic Vicariate of Aguarico (Latin: Apostolicus Vicariatus Aguaricoënsis), a missionary circumscription of the Roman Catholic Church.
