History
Erected in the 9th century and raised to an archdiocese in 1954, the Archdiocese of Oviedo (Latin: Oveten(sis); Asturleonese: Archidiócesis d'Uviéu) is a Latin Church Archdiocese of the Catholic Church in Spain. Its territory corresponds roughly to the present autonomous community of Asturias, the Principality of Asturias, and its see is in the city of Oviedo, home of the Catedral de San Salvador.
