The Archdiocese of Poitiers is a Latin rite metropolitan archdiocese in west-central France covering the Vienne and Deux-Sevres departments; the ancient see (3rd century, St. Hilary) was elevated to metropolitan rank on 8 December 2002 and heads the province of Poitiers. Its cathedral is the Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter in Poitiers.

History
Seated in the city of Poitiers, the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Poitiers (Latin: Archidioecesis Metropolitae Pictaviensis; French: Archidiocèse Metropolitain de Poitiers) is a Latin archdiocese of the Catholic Church in France. Its territory takes in the two Departments of Vienne and Deux-Sèvres. Under the Concordat of 1802 the see received, alongside the ancient Diocese of Poitiers, a portion of the Diocese of La Rochelle and Saintes.
