The Archdiocese of Freetown, established as a vicariate in 1858 and raised to a metropolitan archdiocese in 1970, is the Latin Church metropolitan see for Sierra Leone with suffragans Bo, Kenema and Makeni. Edward Tamba Charles has been archbishop since 2008.

History
Sierra Leone's capital and most populous city supplies both the name and the episcopal see of the Archdiocese of Freetown (Archidioecesis Liberae Urbis), a Latin Church ecclesiastical territory of the Catholic Church in that African country. Freetown ranks as a metropolitan see, with three suffragan dioceses answering to it within its ecclesiastical province.
