The Archdiocese of Glasgow is a Latin rite metropolitan archdiocese covering Glasgow and surrounding council areas in Scotland. The medieval see was raised to metropolitan rank by Pope Innocent VIII in 1492, and the modern archdiocese was re-established in 1878 at the restoration of the Scottish hierarchy. It heads the Province of Glasgow (suffragans Motherwell and Paisley), with its seat at St Andrew's Cathedral, Glasgow.

History
Central Scotland is home to the Archdiocese of Glasgow (Latin: Archidioecesis Glasguensis), the Latin Catholic metropolitan see of the Province of Glasgow. Saint Kentigern established the episcopal seat of the developing diocese in the 6th century AD. Of the two Catholic metropolitan archdioceses in Scotland (the country's only archdioceses), Glasgow is the elder bishopric; Innocent VIII first raised it to a metropolitan archbishopric in 1492.
