History

On the Bangka Belitung Islands of Indonesia, the Diocese of Pangkal-Pinang (Latin: Pangkalpinangen(sis)) belongs to the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Palembang, while depending on the missionary Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. Its episcopal cathedral, Katedral Santo Yosep, dedicated to Saint Joseph, stands in the city of Pangkal-Pinang on Bangka Island.
