History
Based in Kollam, a city in southern India, the Diocese of Quilon belongs to the Latin Church. Its origins reach back to 1329, when the diocese was first created, though the bishop never took canonical possession. Gregory XVI later re-established Quilon as a diocese suffragan of Verapoly on 1 September 1886. The diocese was afterward placed as a suffragan within the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Trivandrum.
