History
Covering the whole of Iraq, the Armenian Catholic Archeparchy of Baghdad is a non-metropolitan archeparchy (an Eastern Catholic archdiocese) of the Armenian Catholic Church. It depends directly on the Armenian Catholic Patriarch of Cilicia while remaining outside his metropolitan ecclesiastical province. The Cathedral of Our Lady of Nareg in the Iraqi capital Baghdad serves as its episcopal see, and from it the archeparchy is colloquially called Baghdad of the Armenians. Manuscripts connected with this church have been digitized by the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library (HMML) working with the Centre Numérique des Manuscrits Orientaux (CNMO).
