Latin-rite diocese covering the Almaty region of Kazakhstan, elevated to diocese in 2003 and part of the ecclesiastical province of Mary Most Holy in Astana. Its seat is the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Almaty. Spanish-born Bishop Jose Luis Mumbiela Sierra has led the diocese since 2011 and in 2022 became the first president of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Central Asia.
