History

Formed in 1972 from territory of the Diocese of Kandy, the Diocese of Badulla (Lat: Dioecesis Badullana) is a Latin Church jurisdiction in Sri Lanka, suffragan to the Archdiocese of Colombo. St. Mary's church serves as its cathedral. Echchampulle Arachchige Jude Nishanta Silva, named in January 2023, is the present bishop.
