Makokou is a Latin Catholic Apostolic Vicariate (not a full diocese) in the Ogooue-Ivindo province of northern Gabon, erected as an apostolic prefecture in 2003 and raised to a vicariate in 2014. It is immediately subject to the Holy See rather than part of a metropolitan province.

History
Among the Catholic jurisdictions of Gabon, the Apostolic Vicariate of Makokou (French: Vicariat apostolique de Makokou) stands apart as the country's last remaining missionary jurisdiction, since the rest of Gabon belongs to the ecclesiastical province headed by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Libreville. The vicariate answers directly to the Holy See through its Dicastery for Evangelization. Its seat is the Cathédrale Notre-Dame des Victoires, dedicated to Our Lady of Victory, in Makokou, capital of the Ogooué-Ivindo province in the north of the country.
