The Diocese of Mogadishu is the sole Latin Church diocese in Somalia, immediately subject to the Holy See. The see has been vacant since the assassination of Bishop Salvatore Colombo in 1989, and Bishop Giorgio Bertin of Djibouti has served as apostolic administrator since 2001.

History
Somalia has a single Catholic diocese, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Mogadishu (Latin: Mogadiscen(sis)), seated in the city of Mogadishu and covering territory that coincides with the whole country. The see has been vacant since 1989, when its last bishop, Salvatore Colombo, was assassinated. The diocese belongs to the Conference of the Latin Bishops of the Arab Regions.
