With its episcopal see at Puerto Escondido, this Latin Church diocese (Latin: Dioecesis Portus Abditi) belongs to the province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Antequera in Mexico. On 31 October 2012, Pope Benedict XVI named Pedro Vázquez Villalobos as Bishop of Puerto Escondido.
