History
Under the spiritual leadership of the pope in Rome, the Catholic Church in Nepal forms part of the worldwide Catholic Church. Its faithful, numbering over 10,000 as of 2011, are gathered into a single jurisdiction, an apostolic vicariate. The faith was first propagated in Nepal during the 18th century, though missionaries were barred from the country between 1810 and 1950.
