Latin rite diocese in the Amazonas region of northern Peru, erected 28 May 1803 as the Diocese of Maynas from territory of the Diocese of Cuenca, the Archdiocese of Lima and the Diocese of Trujillo, and renamed Chachapoyas on 2 June 1843. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Piura.
