History
On the east coast of central Italy, the Archdiocese of Pescara-Penne (Latin: Archidioecesis Piscariensis-Pinnensis) is a Latin Church diocese that was raised to a metropolitan archbishopric in 1982, when its name changed from the Diocese of Penne e Pescara to Pescara-Penne. That earlier diocese had been created in 1949 through the division of the historic diocese of Penne-Atri, with Atri passing to the newly formed Diocese of Teramo-Atri; the Diocese of Atri had itself been united with the Diocese of Penne since 1252. The archbishops have their seat in the Pescara Cathedral.
