History
Territory drawn from the Diocese of Surigao formed the Diocese of Tandag (Lat: Dioecesis Tandagensis) at its erection in 1978. A Latin Church see in the Philippines and a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro, it has seen no jurisdictional changes since. On 26 February 2018 Pope Francis appointed Raul B. Dael, Vicar for the Clergy of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro, as bishop of Tandag, succeeding Nereo P. Odchimar, whose resignation upon reaching the mandatory retirement age the pope had accepted.
