History
The Diocese of Vila Real (Latin: Dioecesis Villaregalensis), a Latin Church diocese of the Catholic Church in Portugal, dates from 1922, when it was assembled from territories belonging to the diocese of Bragança-Miranda, the archdiocese of Braga, and the diocese of Lamego. Located in the Norte region with its see at the Cathedral of Vila Real, it is a suffragan of the archdiocese of Braga.
