History
Among the jurisdictions of the Syriac Catholic Church in Syria stands the Archeparchy of Hasakah-Nisibi(s), also written Al Hasakeh-Nisibi(s) and in French Hassaké-Nisibi, informally Hasakah-Nisibi(s) of the Syriacs. Though an archeparchy (an Eastern Catholic archdiocese) of this sui iuris church, which follows the Syro-Oriental Rite in the Syriac language, it is non-metropolitan and belongs to no ecclesiastical province, answering directly to the Syriac Catholic Patriarch of Antioch and to the Roman Congregation for the Oriental Churches. Its archiepiscopal see is the cathedral of the Assumption of Mary in Hasakah.
