The bishop
The register holds no ordinary for this see. Where a chair is vacant the vacancy is the fact, and it is recorded rather than filled in. See the bishop.
The cathedral
Cathédrale Sainte Anne stands in Thiès, the church that holds the cathedra from which this see takes its name.
On what a cathedral is, see the cathedral; every see church on earth is gathered at the cathedrals.

History
The city of Thiès in Senegal is the seat of a Roman Catholic diocese (Latin: Thiesin(us); French: Diocèse catholique romain de Thiès) within the ecclesiastical province of Dakar. On Friday, January 18, 2013, Pope Benedict XVI named the Rev. André Gueye Bishop-designate of the diocese, with ordination and installation to follow (which would be May 25). Until that appointment he had served among the Thiès diocesan clergy and as a professor of philosophy at the Major Seminary of Saint Jean Marie Vianney in Bris, Senegal, within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Ziguinchor in Ziguinchor, Senegal.
