History
A Latin diocese of the Catholic Church in Apulia, the Diocese of Ugento-Santa Maria di Leuca (Latin: Dioecesis Uxentina-S. Mariae Leucadensis) has carried its present name since 1959 and is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Lecce. The historic Diocese of Ugento reaches back to the thirteenth century.
