History
Located in the city of Barcelona within the ecclesiastical province of Cumaná, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Barcelona in Venezuela bears the Latin name Dioecesis Barcinonensis in Venetiola. On Thursday, 11 July 2014, the Vatican web site's online daily news bulletin recorded, among its resignations and appointments, that Pope Francis had named Bishop Jorge Anibal Quintero Chacón, until then Bishop of the Diocese of Margarita, as Bishop-designate of the Diocese of Barcelona.
