Basilica Shrine of Saint Mary

Basilica Shrine of Saint Mary is a Catholic parish in Wilmington, North Carolina. The parish has a long history dating back to the early nineteenth century when Bishop John England made regular visits to Wilmington. In 1845, Ignatius Aloysius Reynolds officially founded the parish. Father Thomas Murphy was appointed the first full-time priest and initiated construction of the Church of Saint Thomas the Apostle in 1847. The parish continues to serve the community with Masses offered in both English and Spanish.
