The cathedral

Cathedrale Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette, Antsirabe stands in Antsirabé, the church that holds the cathedra from which this see takes its name.

On what a cathedral is, see the cathedral; every see church on earth is gathered at the cathedrals.

History

A Latin suffragan see within the province of Antananarivo (one of Madagascar's five, centered on the national capital), the Diocese of Antsirabe (Latin: Antsiraben(sis)) nonetheless depends on the missionary Roman Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. Its bishop's church is the Marian Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette in the city of Antsirabe, Antananarivo Province.
