Latin-rite diocese in southern Bangladesh, erected 29 December 2015 from territory of the Diocese of Chittagong and a suffragan of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Chattogram since that province was created in 2017. Its seat is St. Peter's Cathedral in Barisal. Bishop Emmanuel Kanon Rozario has led the diocese since 2022.

History
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Barisal is a Latin suffragan bishopric under the Metropolitan of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chittagong, though it remains dependent on the missionary Roman Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples. St. Peter's Cathedral in Barisal serves as its episcopal see. A Diocese of Barisal, with its own Bishop of Barisal, also exists in the united Church of Bangladesh.
