Archdiocese of Sucre

Sucren(sis)

Latin rite metropolitan archdiocese and primatial see of Bolivia, erected as a diocese on 27 June 1552 from the Diocese of Cusco, elevated to the Metropolitan Archdiocese of La Plata (Charcas) on 20 July 1609 and renamed Sucre in 1924; Pope Francis recognized it as Bolivia's primatial see in 2021. Its seat is the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Archbishop Ricardo Ernesto Centellas Guzman has led the archdiocese since 11 February 2020.
