History

A Latin Catholic diocese of the ecclesiastical province of Chongqing in western China, the Diocese of Jiading (formerly spelled Kiating; Latin: Dioecesis Chiatimensis; simplified Chinese: 天主教嘉定教区; traditional Chinese: 天主教嘉定教區) is seated in the city of Leshan, once Jiading Prefecture. The government controlled Catholic Patriotic Association calls it the Diocese of Leshan (天主教乐山教区; 天主教樂山教區). It began on July 10, 1929 as the Apostolic Prefecture of Yachow for the Mission of Sichuan (Szechwan), with its episcopal see first placed at Yachow, present-day Ya'an.

This see keeps no website of its own, so the address of its diocesan offices is published here: withholding it would protect nothing and leave a reader with nowhere to go. Where a see publishes its own site, the register sends you there instead.
