The Diocese of Orleans is a Latin rite diocese covering the Loiret department in north-central France, erected in the 3rd century and a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Tours; it is closely associated with St. Joan of Arc and the annual Johannine festivals. Its cathedral is the Cathedral Basilica of the Holy Cross in Orleans.

History
Corresponding today to the Départment of Loiret, the Diocese of Orléans (Latin: Dioecesis Aurelianensis; French: Diocèse d'Orléans) is a Latin Church diocese of the Catholic Church in France. Its city lies 133 kilometers (83 miles) south-southwest of Paris. Over the centuries the see has passed between metropolitans more than once: before 1622 it was a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Sens, and in that year it became suffragan of the Archdiocese of Paris.
