Latin-rite diocese on the northeastern coast of Honduras, erected 3 July 1987 (the historic Diocese of Honduras at Trujillo, founded in the 16th century, was suppressed in 1571). Its seat is St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Trujillo. Since 2023 it is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of San Pedro Sula.
