Syro-Malabar eparchy in northern Kerala, India, erected 28 April 1986 by Pope John Paul II by bifurcating the Eparchy of Tellicherry. It is a suffragan of the Archeparchy of Tellicherry, covering the Kozhikode and Malappuram districts, with its seat at Mary Matha Cathedral in Thamarassery.

History
Created on 28 April 1986, the Eparchy of Thamarassery belongs to the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church in India. It falls under the Province of Tellicherry and is governed by the Major Archbishop of Erankulam-Angamaly together with the synod of all bishops of the sui iuris Church, both within and outside India. Among its several important churches, the foremost are Saint Thomas Forane Church Koorachudu and Sacred Heart Forane Church Thiruvambady.
