Latin-rite diocese in eastern Shan State, Myanmar, which began as the Apostolic Prefecture of Kengtung in 1927, became an apostolic vicariate in 1950 and was elevated to a diocese in 1955. A suffragan of the Archdiocese of Taunggyi, its seat is the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Kengtung.

History
The Diocese of Kengtung (Lat: Diocesis Kengtunghensis) in Burma began in 1927 as the Apostolic Prefecture of Kengtung, carved from territory of the Apostolic Vicariate of Eastern Burma. The prefecture was raised to an apostolic vicariate in 1950, and in 1955 the vicariate became a full diocese, suffragan to the Archdiocese of Taunggyi. As the Catholic population grew, the apostolic prefecture of Lashio was split off from Kengtung in 1975, later expanding into the Diocese of Lashio.
