Latin-rite diocese in Myanmar tracing to the Apostolic Vicariate of Eastern Burma (1870), renamed Toungoo in 1927, elevated to a diocese in 1955 and renamed Taungngu in 1996. A suffragan of the Archdiocese of Taunggyi, its seat is the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Taungoo.

Taungoo, Myanmar, is the seat of the Diocese of Taungngu (Lat: Diocesis Tunguensis), a Latin Catholic diocese whose current bishop, John Saw Gawdy, was appointed in 2023.
