Latin rite diocese in Portuguesa state, Venezuela, with its see at Guanare, home of the national Marian shrine of Our Lady of Coromoto. Erected 7 June 1954 by Pope Pius XII from territories of Barquisimeto and Calabozo; it is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Barquisimeto. Its cathedral is the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Coromoto.
