The Latin rite Diocese of Bui Chu in Nam Dinh Province, northern Vietnam, traces to the Apostolic Vicariate of Central Tonkin erected on 5 September 1848 and was elevated to a diocese on 24 November 1960. A suffragan of the Archdiocese of Hanoi, its cathedral is the Cathedral of the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and it has one of the densest Catholic populations in Vietnam at about one third of residents.

History
Roughly four fifths of Nam Định Province by area falls within the Roman Catholic diocese of Bùi Chu (Latin: Dioecesis Buichuensis), including the six districts of Xuân Trường, Giao Thủy, Hải Hậu, Nghĩa Hưng, Trực Ninh, and Nam Trực together with part of Nam Định city. Thomas Aquinas Vũ Đình Hiệu has led the diocese as bishop since August 2013.
