Caritas Tunisia and the Caritas organizations of Sicily completed the first phase of a twinning project during a visit to Tunisia that concluded on September 28. The visit focused on mutual discovery between the two regions to prepare for future collaborative projects.
The delegation included the director of Caritas Tunisia, four permanent staff members, and the local bishop. They met with the bishops of the Tunisian Episcopal Conference and directors from the Caritas offices of the 18 Sicilian dioceses.
This phase of the partnership follows several years of exchange. In 2024, staff from Caritas Tunisia traveled to Sicily with Bishop Ilario. In September 2025, Sicilian bishops visited Tunis, and in April 2026, seven Sicilian Caritas directors traveled to Tunisia.
