Priests of the Diocese of St. John’s-Basseterre gathered at the Verandah Resort and Spa in Antigua from October 19 to 23, 2026, for their annual retreat. The retreat focused on the theme of spiritual direction and inner healing to prepare the clergy for the upcoming pastoral year.
Participants used the book Be Healed by Bob Schuchts to study the connections between emotional health, spiritual well-being, and personal wounds. The sessions addressed the differences between spiritual direction, counseling, psychotherapy, and mentoring to help priests recognize various ways people receive guidance in their faith.
The diocese stated the retreat provided priests with time for rest and reflection. The program intended to strengthen the ability of the clergy to accompany others on their spiritual journeys by addressing the relationship between the body and the soul.
