Cardinal Marcello Semeraro presided over the beatification of three martyred priests at the Basilica of San Petronio in Bologna on Sunday, September 27. Acting as the delegate for Pope Leo XIV, Semeraro led the liturgy for Ubaldo Marchioni, a diocesan priest; Elia Comini, a Salesian; and Martino Capelli, a Dehonian.

The ceremony included more than 150 concelebrating priests. Among those in attendance were Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, the archbishop of Bologna, and Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime. Semeraro noted that the lives of the new Blessed find their deepest meaning in the Eucharist, where the death and resurrection of the Lord are proclaimed.
