À la Concorde, le pape invoque l’Esprit Saint sur la France

Pope Leo XIV celebrated a solemn Mass for the Blessed Virgin Mary on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Place de la Concorde in Paris. Before the liturgy, the pope traveled in a popemobile to greet people gathered along the Champs-Élysées between the Place de l'Étoile and the Place de la Concorde.

The Mass included more than 100 bishops, priests and deacons, altar servers, and singers. The choir was led by the singers from the sanctuary of Sainte-Anne d'Auray. An altar was set up behind the Concorde obelisk, decorated with a large representation of the south rose window from the Paris Cathedral, a 4-meter tall golden cross, and the statue of the Virgin from Notre-Dame de Paris.

During his homily, the pope spoke about the thirst for God, which relates to the theme of his pontifical journey, "For the World to Have Life." He encouraged the assembly to return to essentials and to draw from the Heart of Jesus.
