Sisters of Charity of Nazareth bury Frannie Groom
First source report
The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth buried Frances “Frannie” Kercheval Groom on October 6 at the congregation's cemetery in Nazareth. Groom, who died September 27, 2026, at age 95, had been a member of the congregation for more than two decades after entering in the early 1950s.
Although Groom left the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in 1974, she maintained a lifelong connection to the community as a donor and a member of the SCN Legacy Society. She chose to be buried among the sisters.
During a prayer service at the cemetery, Sister Marlene Lehmkuhl described Groom as unique. Those who knew her remembered her love for animals and the outdoors, noting her involvement with 4-H and the Humane Society. During her time living with the sisters in the 1950s, Groom maintained a large garden. Her ministry included teaching fourth grade at St. Agatha School in Upper Arlington, Ohio.
