Bishop Jerzy Mazur inaugurates new academic year at HOSIANUM

Bishop Jerzy Mazur inaugurated the 2026/2027 academic year at HOSIANUM and the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn on October 5, 2026. Archbishop Józef Gorzyński presided over the Mass, and Bishop Mazur delivered the homily.

The ceremony included alumni from the Warmia, Elbląg, and Ełk dioceses and the Zgromadzenia Słowa Bożego. During the liturgy, these alumni made a profession of faith to mark the start of their preparation for priestly ministry.

In his homily, Bishop Mazur said the shared formation of alumni from three dioceses and the Zgromadzenia Słowa Bożego is a sign of blessing for local churches. He compared the start of the academic year to the start of a sports competition, noting that a good start requires systematic work, perseverance, and commitment. He encouraged the alumni to know Christ through studies, prayer, adoration, and the Eucharist.
