First source report
Archbishop Gervas John Mwasikwabhila Nyaisonga of the Catholic Archdiocese of Mbeya was installed as Chancellor of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) on Thursday, October 22. He succeeds Bishop Charles Sampa Kasonde in the role.
The installation took place during a Graduation Thanksgiving Mass held before the university's 45th graduation ceremony. Archbishop Nyaisonga, who was appointed Chancellor during the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA) Plenary Assembly in July, presided over the Mass.
In his homily, the Archbishop urged graduates to use their skills and integrity to serve society and to pursue continuous learning. He noted that the university, established by AMECEA, must maintain its mission of evangelization through education while addressing modern developments such as social media and artificial intelligence.
