Bishop D. António Luciano appeals for dignified care and valorization of caregivers

Bishop D. António Luciano called for the promotion of dignified, integral care for all sick and vulnerable people during the opening of the Jornadas de Saúde at the Viseu Seminary on October 9. Addressing the event, the Bishop of Viseu urged for the valorization of caregivers so they can perform their duties with quality and proximity.

The conference, titled "Cuidar de Quem Cuida: Boas Práticas no Apoio à Pessoa Idosa," brings together employees of Instituições Particulares de Solidariedade Social, direct action assistants, technicians, and other professionals who provide care to older people. The event seeks to share practical knowledge, improve care quality, and strengthen the technical skills and well-being of these professionals.

Bishop Luciano, who has a background in nursing, emphasized the necessity of caring for caregivers to ensure they can maintain their mission. He noted that caregivers must care for themselves, either before or alongside their work with others, to effectively serve those in need.
